Pixacom: Where were you born, and how was life growing up?
Yaya Han: I was born and raised in China till I turned 9. Then I
moved to Germany with my mother and went to school until I was 18. At
that point I moved to the USA - basically, I am a total cultural mutt.
I think because I lived in so many different cultures, I was able to
get a broader view of the world, and I definitely consider myself
well-traveled. I feel confident enough to pursue a free-lance career.



Pixacom: What nationality are you?
Yaya Han: Chinese!



Pixacom: What kind of stuff did you get into after high school?
Yaya Han: Art and Costume Design. I have always been a creative
person so I am very lucky that I got into a career that allows me to
work for myself as well as be artistic every day!



Pixacom: How did you get into modeling?
Yaya Han: I got into modeling through making costumes. At an
event, while I was dressed up, people started taking pictures of me in
costume, and through the repeated occasion I developed an affinity for
being in front of a camera.
Two friends of mine really began to spend time with me doing
Photography - Meg Hanson who photographed me modeling her creations
for www.Faeriegrove.com back in year 2001, and Nadine Dodd, a
wonderful photographer and cosplayer, who kindly shot several of my
personal outfits. Both really inspired me to pursue modeling as a part
of costuming. I branched out into fashion and glamor style modeling
through another incredible artist, Kevin Stewart of Black Eye
Photography, who pushes me to new heights with each photo shoot we do.
We even exhibited a gallery of three years of collaborated photography
work between us.
In the end my passion lies with costume design, so modeling will
probably always stay a semi-hobby to me. I really enjoy it but I would
be bored as just a model hired to wear other people's clothes. The
photoshoots I love are the crazy artistic concepts where I can be
creative.



Pixacom: How long have you been modeling?
Yaya Han: Over 7 years.



Pixacom: Have you done any Nude modeling?
Yaya Han: Just once for a bodypaint shoot! That was fun, but I
don't have an interest in regular nude modeling haha.



Pixacom: How did you feel doing your first nude photo shoot?
Yaya Han: Because I was painted all over it was like I had
clothes on, but the paint showed all of my hairs and made me feel
really hairy, and trust me, I am NOT hairy lol. That was weird but
overall it was a blast.



Pixacom: How did you feel being in front of the camera for the first time?
Yaya Han: It actually felt pretty natural and fun!







Pixacom: Would you say you are pretty comfortable with your body?
Yaya Han: Overall definitely. There is always room for
improvement but I wouldn't be modeling if I wasn't comfortable in my
own skin.



Pixacom: What would you say is your best feature?
Yaya Han: I like my cheekbones and lips lol. I also have strong
defined legs.



Pixacom: What's the best thing about being a model?
Yaya Han: For me it's definitely creating a beautiful or
interesting image and telling a story through photography. I have a
lot of crazy ideas for shoots!







Pixacom: What do you do differently to set yourself apart from other models?
Yaya Han: I am definitely not a run of the mill glamor model - if
you hire me, you get the whole package! I can do all of my own makeup,
hair and styling. I can make whatever outfits I need for shoots and
present myself exactly how I want to. I am fun and imaginative and
you'll also get my creative drive and passion behind each project!



Pixacom: Any highlights in your modeling career?
Yaya Han: I have been published all over the world in magazines,
books and newspapers for my costumes and modeling. When I sit back and
think of things in the big picture, it's pretty crazy. What I
personally am most proud of is my modeling work for fantasy artist
Nene Thomas (www.nenethomas.com), who is a close friend of mine and
who has painted me in multiple artworks, that in turn have been made
into statues, figures, stickers, postcards and other merchandise.



Pixacom: Where can we find you on a typical weekend, if you aren't
doing a photoshoot?
Yaya Han: Most likely traveling to an event for my costume design
work or spending time with friends at home. I love living in Las
Vegas, where everyone has to come visit you lol. I play hosts to
friends coming in town often!



Pixacom: What do you want to do outside of modeling?
Yaya Han: Definitely costume design!



Pixacom: Five years from now, where do you see yourself?
Yaya Han: Hopefully still enjoying a job that I really love and
finally having traveled to all 5 continents!



Pixacom: What is the coolest thing a fan has ever done for you?
Yaya Han: I have received some very thoughtful wonderful gifts
such as artwork and dolls, from friends and fans alike.



Pixacom: Any photographers you enjoy working with or hope to work with?
Yaya Han: Of course there are many photographers I would love to
work with one day, to list them all would take far too long. I also
feel very lucky to have done collaborations with some of the most
talented photographers in the biz. Joseph Corsentino's Time of the
Faeries Series really made me feel like I belonged to a great project.



Pixacom: Which ineternet websites would you say you spend most of your time at?
Yaya Han: I try to check my email accounts and MySpace as much as
I have time for, and I keep in touch with a lot of friends through
LiveJournal. I also like perusing modeling sites like modelmayhem.com
for inspiration.



Pixacom: Do you travel much for your modeling?
Yaya Han: Between modeling and costuming, I am gone almost every
weekend in certain months. I think around September 2007 I was gone 5
weekends in a row, with about 20 plane trips during that phase. My
friends were joking that it would be 40 chances of dying (20 take offs
and 20 landings) that I survived lol.



Pixacom: Do you like all the traveling?
Yaya Han: I have always loved traveling so it's no problem. I try
to squeeze in as much as possible in each trip, be it photoshoots,
hang out time with friends, sightseeing.... I got to visit Mexico,
Italy and Brazil this year as a special guest for some of the
conventions there, and all those trips have been wonderful experiences
for me.



Pixacom: If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?
Yaya Han: I am very lucky and have already traveled to some of my
dream destinations such as Egypt, Brazil and Greece. I would like to
visit France, Japan and Australia next.







Pixacom: If you could play lead role in any type of movie, What kind
of movie would it be?
Yaya Han: Somehow I have a feeling I would be casted as some
badass chick in a martial arts movie lol. I personally would love to
be in a fantasy or period piece involving (you guessed it!) elaborate
gorgeous costumes.



Pixacom: Do you have a favorite Car?
Yaya Han: I actually am a big car lover! Currently driving a
Porsche 928S which is a fantastic vehicle. I lived in Germany for
almost a decade and Porsche is definitely my favorite maker. I also
fancy the Aston Martin DB 9 and McLaren F1 quite a bit.



Pixacom: What do you think about strip clubs?
Yaya Han: They are awesome when you go with a big group of people
who are all open-minded and fun-loving! None of that "jealous
girlfriend" shit!



Pixacom: Do you have a favorite drink when at clubs or bars?
Yaya Han: Either an Amaretto Sour or a Mojito - I really like
fresh fruity drinks.



Pixacom: How about a favorite food to go along with the drink?
Yaya Han: Sushi!



Pixacom: What kind of music are you listening to these days?
Yaya Han: Maybe it stems from having lived in three different
cultures, but I am very fond of music of all types! Iit's good music,
I don't care what kind it is. I like Trance Mixes and Techno for
driving; Hip Hop and Pop for dancing; Rob Zombie and Rammstein for
rocking out lol; Peter Gabriel, Dave Matthews, Dido, Imogen Heap,
Sarah McLachlan and other Singer/Songwriters.







Pixacom: Tell us something you got away with?
Yaya Han: Oooh wouldn't you like to know... well one time I
talked myself out of a car towing bill lol!




Pixacom: If you could be a super hero, what would that superhero be like?
Yaya Han: Definitely Mystique from X-Men because being able to
transform yourself into anyone is just the best superpower ever.



Pixacom: How would you feel if a guy passed gas on a first date?
Yaya Han: Hahaha it would seriously depend on the guy, and how
well the date is going I guess!



Pixacom: Find a lamp and out pops a Genie, you get one wish, what would it be?
Yaya Han: Make each day at least 36 hours long and give me the
energy to only have to sleep for 6 of them!



Pixacom: We grant you the power to create the perfect man. Describe
the features you would include?
Yaya Han: A broad back to lean on, and a set of firm nice hands.





Pixacom: Give us the dirt on your dating life. Any first date rules?
Yaya Han: Ugh, I don't like putting rules on stuff like this.
Either you click or you don't. But if there were rules for me, they
would have to be along the lines of... Don't try to impress me too
much and be yourself. Take me somewhere different and innovative, and
make sure the night includes some form of sushi.



Pixacom: Do you kiss on the first date?
Yaya Han: Nope - if the date went well, there will be plenty of
time for kissin'!



Pixacom: Should a person call right away or wait a few days?
Yaya Han: Honestly, call when you fell like it. If the chemistry
is there, the other person will be thrilled to pick up.



Pixacom: What kind of guy bugs you?
Yaya Han: Arrogant macho men, jealous control freaks... you know,
the usual. lol



Pixacom: What's the worst place to meet a guy?
Yaya Han: A bar or a night club. How ironic, right?

Yaya Han: Both have advantages and can be fun!



Pixacom: If we snuck into your bedroom, what could we find you sleeping in?
Yaya Han: Nothing haha!



Pixacom: What do you do to feel sexy?
Yaya Han: Put on a sexy favorite song and pick out a cute
outfit/get ready for a night of fun!

Yaya Han: Surprise me with something extraordinary and spontaneous!

What's should a person expect: a

Yaya Han: Sometimes a jungle, sometimes the Vegas strip!

Yaya Han: Definitely working hard and playing hard no matter what
I do. Continuing with my passion for costume design and
photography/modeling!
