Pixacom: Where were you born, and how was life growing up?
Melissa Leslie (MLove): I was born and raised in Indiana. No one would ever guess unless I told them…but yes it’s true. If it wasn’t for my family, I could honestly say I would never go back! As an artist this place was horrible. My art was traveling further than me and I was receiving awards only tangible through the mail. My teacher had once said, “Melissa, you are a big fish in a small pond.” This was a feeling I always had growing inside me. So my mission was to go where I was appreciated, San Francisco! For once I felt as though there was no such thing as racism. But that’s a whole other story!

Pixacom: What nationality are you?
Melissa Leslie (MLove): Hmmm… Didn’t you already ask me this?

Pixacom: What would the average person say about you?
Melissa Leslie (MLove): “Not only are you beautiful but talented too!” I received that one a lot!

Pixacom: What kind of stuff did you get into after high school?
Melissa Leslie (MLove): I pursued my degree in graphic design so I could knock out the middle man when it comes to all my marketing and clothing designs. Then I got a loan solely for the purpose of getting out of Indiana and to go to the Academy of Art in San Francisco to study sculpture. Shortly after that, I pursued more of my modeling and networked within the industry to further myself in photography and clothing. I created handmade clothing and wrote poetry a lot.

Pixacom: How did you get into modeling?
Melissa Leslie (MLove): I first got into modeling when the director of my school in Vincennes, IN contacted me for doing an ad for the community college. It’s funny, looking back, how they met the quota in the pic. I was the token Asian girl.

Pixacom: How long have you been modeling?
Melissa Leslie (MLove): For over 4 years.

Pixacom: How did you feel being in front of the camera for the first time?
Melissa Leslie (MLove): Eager to see the final product.

Pixacom: How did you feel walking into your photoshoot?
Melissa Leslie (MLove): Excited to get some new high quality pics.

Pixacom: So would you say you are comfortable now?
Melissa Leslie (MLove): Definitely! Always been!

Pixacom: Are you comfortable with your body?
Melissa Leslie (MLove): Of course!

Pixacom: Are you enhanced?
Melissa Leslie (MLove): Spiritually and mentally, yes!

Pixacom: Why did you get them enhanced?
Melissa Leslie (MLove): Because my mind is priceless.

Pixacom: What’s the best thing about modeling?
Melissa Leslie (MLove): Having the ability to influence younger girls through more than just my modeling. Modeling does get people’s attention more so than some of the other things I do. Therefore, I reach those who may not have taken the time to look further into my talents and mental intellect…thank goodness for interviews!

Pixacom: What do you do to set yourself apart from other models?
Melissa Leslie (MLove): All of the above.

Pixacom: Where do you hope your modeling will take you?
Melissa Leslie (MLove): To well-known magazines, getting the word out about my art. If modeling is a venue, then so be it!

Pixacom: What has been the highlight of your modeling career?
Melissa Leslie (MLove): Being able to express myself physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Pixacom: Where can we find you on a typical weekend, if you aren’t doing a photoshoot?
Melissa Leslie (MLove): In my studio painting, writing, sewing or in my garden reaping what I sew…Ya dig?

Pixacom: What keeps you busy away from modeling?
Melissa Leslie (MLove): Art, love, passionate expression through a variety of mediums.

Pixacom: What do you want to do outside of modeling?
Melissa Leslie (MLove): Everything. I’m already doing.

Pixacom: Five years from now, where do you see yourself?
Melissa Leslie (MLove): Writing my 4th or 5th book, pushing my stable clothing line “MLove,” opening my gallery/cocktail lounge, conducting a stable magazine based on art, etc.

Pixacom: What is the coolest thing a fan has ever done for you?
Melissa Leslie (MLove): Draw my portrait, write a poem, come to my birthday party with a sweet card full of poetry for me. Things that involve little to no money and require time and effort.

Pixacom: Do you travel much?
Melissa Leslie (MLove):Yes I am constantly on the go with my photography as well as doing art shows. I also travel a lot for family as well as for my modeling.

Pixacom: Do you like all the traveling?
Melissa Leslie (MLove): Love it! Need to get out into the world to feel other parts of life to be inspired which is why I’m glad I got to the West Coast to pursue my artistic endeavors.

Pixacom: If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?
Melissa Leslie (MLove): Anywhere? Heaven!…Oh you mean on earth…I would love to visit Sicily, Jamaica, the Philippines and Tokyo.

Pixacom: If you could play lead role in any type of movie, What kind of movie would it be?
Melissa Leslie (MLove): Action! Something like “Hero.” Better yet…A documentary of my fiance and me, wait…We are already on top of it! So stay tuned!

Pixacom: Do you have a favorite Car?
Melissa Leslie (MLove): Lotus Spyder

Melissa Leslie (MLove): I try not to.

Pixacom: Do you have a favorite drink when at clubs or bars?
Melissa Leslie (MLove): Merlot, Lychee Martini

Melissa Leslie (MLove): Anything my mama makes, real Italian and Thai.

Melissa Leslie (MLove): Reggae…Damian Marley, India Arie, Lauryn Hill, John Lennon. Those are a few names who everyone should listen to.

Melissa Leslie (MLove): Hmmm…I can’t think of anything.

Melissa Leslie (MLove): No.

Melissa Leslie (MLove): He has the most beautiful soul. His eyes are deep and passionate. His hands turn everything into art. He is my equally yoked half.

Melissa Leslie (MLove): Boys who lack intelligence, who are followers, who gossip and disrespectful guys. Men who are too concerned with their looks, sports and bling.

Melissa Leslie (MLove): Love me with everything in him…around me or away from me.

Melissa Leslie (MLove): A club or a lingerie store.
