Pixacom: How long have you been doing photography?
Josh Gallo: I’ve always been interested in photography but I really started pursuing it about a year ago.
Pixacom: Did you take any photography classes?
Josh Gallo: I had a few black and white classes in high school and college.
Pixacom: How did you get started photographing beautiful women?
Josh Gallo: It all started with a girl named Rachel, haha. When I was about 20 I started taking pictures of my friend Rachel and I’ve been interested ever since.
Pixacom: How did you feel with your first model shoot?
Josh Gallo: A year ago I decided this is something I want to do. So, I went out and bought my first DSLR. I asked a girl, who is actually a featured model on this site, if she would pose for me. I was really nervous. I remember my hands sweating like crazy but I think I got one of my favorite pictures that day.
Pixacom: Would you say you are pretty comfortable now?
Josh Gallo: When I get behind my camera now the world just seems to quite down. I can’t really explain it but I feel completely free and I’m able to just create.
Pixacom: Where would you say you get your inspiration from?
Josh Gallo: I think for most of my life I’ve been very practical. I chose a career path based on security and money instead of happiness. A year ago my cousin, best friend and brother all rolled into one, that I lived with died. He lived his life completely different then I did. He was an artist and he seemed to have a passion for life that I had forgotten. His motto was Create, Inspire, Destroy. Since his death I’ve reevaluated what makes me happy. I think it’s his energy that drives me to follow my dreams. Daniel Karl Frank this ones for you brotha..jpg)
Pixacom: What would the average model say about your style of photography?
Josh Gallo: I guess you’d have to ask them. I would imagine they say it’s different then what most model photographers out there are shooting. I feel I’m still trying to find my style. Every shoot I try new things and just strive to learn everything I can.
Pixacom: What type of camera equipment are you shooting with today?
Josh Gallo: I can’t afford the pro equipment yet but I love my canon 40d. I don’t think it really matters right now though. I could be using a rebel and getting the same results.
Pixacom: Is there any equipment you'd love to have?
Josh Gallo: I’m a simple guy, I’m not big on fancy equipment but I wouldn’t mind having a Canon 1Ds Mark III or a Hasselblad CF-39.
Pixacom: What are your opinions on digital vs. film?
Josh Gallo: I think you have to understand film development to really develop your digital images but with that said digital is an amazing medium and I don’t really have a need for film these days..jpg)
Pixacom: Do you work with a modeling agency?
Josh Gallo: Nope but I wouldn’t mind it.
Pixacom: Are there any websites you would suggest for photographers looking to break into the business?
Josh Gallo: I guess Model Mayhem. It’s given me the opportunity to work with some beautiful women without costing me any money. Actually it has helped me make money.
Pixacom: What's the best part about working in model photography?
Josh Gallo: I’d say the hours of staring at my computer developing pictures or maybe working with gorgeous half naked chicks; I’m not sure.
Pixacom: What's next for your portfolio?
Josh Gallo: Just learning and trying out new ideas.
Pixacom: Have you been requested to travel for your photography?
Josh Gallo: Nope but I’m taking request.
Pixacom: If you had the opportunity to shoot a celebrity actress who would that be and why?
Josh Gallo: I just saw Transformers for the first time last night and I can’t get Megan Fox out of my head.
Pixacom: What female music artist would you like to work with?
Josh Gallo: That Hannah Montana girl so the media can blow my very innocent works of art way out of proportion. Conservative, religious
Pixacom: Where do you see your photography taking you 5 years from now?
Josh Gallo: Hopefully around the world. There is so much beauty out there that needs to be seen from my perspective.
Pixacom: Anything you'd like to say to all the models reading this right now?
Josh Gallo: Yes I am single and would be happy to buy you dinner.
Pixacom: Last call. Anyone you wanna give a shot out to?
Josh Gallo: My family, the most important thing in my life.
